Estratégias necrofarmacológicas: Tratamento precoce e a gestão mortífera da vida na pandemia de Covid-19 no Brasil
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: In this article, we aim to address the emergence of what we call necropharmacological strategies. Taking as our object of analysis early treatment as a policy implemented by the Brazilian government in response to the Covid-19 health emergency, we discuss the strategic role of this practice in the management of life and production of death in Brazil during the pandemic event. By cross-referencing the Report of the CPI da Pandemia and the Timeline of the Federal Strategy for the Dissemination of Covid-19 (CEPEDISA), our study identified two documentary materials on early treatment on which our analyses are based: the Information Note of the Ministry of Health 17/2020 and the Opinion of the Federal Council of Medicine 04/2020. As results of this analysis, we highlight: the role of early treatment in capturing the uncertainty and exceptionality associated with the health crisis, especially in scientific and institutional controversies; the role of institutional, journalistic artifacts, medicines and agency games in the composition of this government technology; and the role of early treatment in the promotion and distribution of death that we understand in the concept of necropharmacological strategy.
