Abstract: The central image of the poem focuses on a female teacher who is resigning from being a teacher. It is narrated from the point of view of a fellow teacher who serves as the poem's persona. The persona describes the feeling of finally breaking free from the chains that bound her. The metaphor of revolution is used to signify that the teacher has finally awakened from the oppressive system.
