Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Gaza is in the midst of a health and humanitarian catastrophe,1 bringing an astronomical escalation in health needs. With annihilated health infrastructure,2 scarce or non-existent medical and health supplies, and hundreds of medical personnel killed,3 the health system has long collapsed.4 Compounding this, food shortages and aid obstructions mean that there is widespread malnutrition and starvation,5 and famine is now occurring.6 Rates of communicable diseases are rising,7 and after being detected in wastewater,8 polio was reported in a 10 month old child in July.9 This is a health and humanitarian crisis.
