Exploring Green Libraries Innovation toward Environmental Sustainability in Indonesia: A Systematic Literature Review
Year: 2025
Type: review
Study design: Systematic Review
Abstract: This study explored green library innovations in Indonesia and their contributions to environmental sustainability. Through a systematic literature review, the research identified and analyzed key practices that had been implemented, as well as the challenges faced in promoting sustainable library models. The review highlighted three significant areas of innovation: climate-responsive and locally adapted architectural designs, the use of advanced technologies for energy efficiency and user comfort, and holistic, participatory approaches that engaged communities in sustainable practices. The findings indicated that, while progress had been made, there remained a pressing need for stronger policy frameworks, increased funding, and enhanced public awareness to fully realize the potential of green libraries in supporting environmental conservation. This study provided valuable insights into the role of libraries in addressing global sustainability challenges and offered recommendations for future development in the Indonesian context. The research not only contributed to the growing body of literature on green libraries but also served as a foundational resource for future studies in sustainability and library science.
