Выявление факторов, определяющих коррупцию в системах государственных закупок в развивающихся странах / Identifying the Determinants of Corruption in Public Procurement Systems in Developing Countries

Type: article
Abstract: Public procurement is a critical mechanism for promoting economic development, enhancing transparency, and ensuring effective resource allocation in any country. However, the effectiveness of public procurement systems in achieving these goals is often undermined by corruption. In developing countries, where institutional frameworks and regulatory mechanisms may be weaker, corruption in public procurement is particularly widespread, with far-reaching consequences for economic stability, governance, and public trust. Despite global recognition of the importance of corruption in public procurement, the specific factors contributing to such corrupt practices in developing countries remain insufficiently studied. Economic, social, and political factors often intersect in complex ways, exacerbating vulnerability to corruption. This dynamic is especially evident in developing countries, which frequently face challenges in combating corruption in public procurement despite legal reforms and anti-corruption initiatives. This study aims to identify and analyse the key factors that drive corruption in public procurement systems. By examining economic, social, and political factors, the study seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the underlying causes of procurement corruption in Armenia and offer insights into systemic issues faced by other developing countries.
