Type: article
Abstract: The work is dedicated to the study of the transformation of the visual concept of time in the media context, exemplified by the program “Vremya” on Channel One, which is the oldest large-format news program on domestic television. The paper analyzes the main paradigms of the study of time and space images in domesticand foreign culture; it reveals that the media picture of the world reflects the complexity and diversity of various types of connections and relationships in society and is characterized by a multitude of different types of chronotopes, namely spatial-temporal connections aimed at expressing a certain cultural meaning. The research shows the dynamics of the visual component of the concept of time in the “Vremya” program, which over a long time, has been shaping a certain picture of reality for media content consumers due to its wide audience reach and high level of trust. The visual concept of time in the program changes, moving from static images of time - through images of circular motion and linear movement - to a dynamic image of time as a spiral forward movement. The study concludes that the “Vremya” program not only reflects the dynamics in the audience’s perception of time and space images but also actively influences the transformation of these perceptions. The formation of the structural integrity of the media picture of the world is determined not so much by cultural traditions in human ideas about space and time, but by the capabilities of technical means of transmitting and perceiving these phenomena.
