Abstract: Prior to being hampered by the import regulations of destination nations, Indonesia's export of processed porang, especially from North Sumatra, saw tremendous growth. Examining how tariff regulations affect the competitiveness of processed porang exports to Japan is the goal of this study. Using a SWOT analysis and case study methodology, the study concludes that while Porang exporters have a lot of potential, export growth may be hampered by shifting tariff policy. To address these issues, the report suggests more assertive export tactics. The study demonstrates that one of the elements influencing the competitiveness of Indonesian porang products in the Japanese market is changes in tariff regulations by looking at export data from industry participants. The results have significant ramifications for how the government and business community can develop trade regulations to better encourage porang exports.
