Abstract: The dynamics of the quantitative composition of subjects of extension activity in Ukraine have been determined. An analysis of their distribution by regions was carried out. The load is calculated per one adviser, who carries out consulting activities on a permanent basis in terms of their agricultural specialization. According to the results of the survey, the number of staff of agricultural extension services and the number of experts involved in civil law agreements were determined. The reasons for their decrease in 2023 have been revealed. A ranking of restraining factors of the development of agricultural extension services was formed. It is proposed to supplement the existing network of agricultural extension services acting as non-governmental organizations with such services in the system of scientific institutions of the National Academy of Sciences. Proposals for changing the organization of scientific activity using interactive methods of interaction with farmers have been provided.
