Description of a new species of the genus Fessonia (Acari: Trombidiformes: Smarididae) from Kerala, India

Abstract: A new species of the genus Fessonia (family: Smarididae) viz., Fessonia indica sp. nov. has been collected from rice from Kerala state, South India, which is described and illustrated. So far, two species of the genus Fessonia have been reported in India. Descriptions are based on the morphology of post larval instar. A key to the Indian species is also provided.
