Phenomenology of Poetic Language

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The author focuses on the levels of language function and characterizes the nature of poetic texts in five dimensions: self-expression (in speech and writing); grammatical units; meaning (semantics); the relationship between the poet, text, reader, and situation (pragmatics). In the final part, he considers how poetic texts transcend the ontology of reality, possibility, and necessity transporting readers into fictional, absurd, and fantastic worlds.
