Abstract: Two species of Cryptocarya R.Br. are newly described for New Guinea. Both are shrubby to subarborescent lowland species bearing large leaves. Cryptocarya azurea Ezedin is described from the Sepik-Ramu basins, separated out from material formerly identified as C. magnifolia Teshner, whereas C. hydrantha Ezedin, recorded from Jayapura to Josephstaal, is validated based on an unpublished name.
