Ecological assessment of zinc distribution in barley plants at different growth stages in conditions of a locally polluted site with disturbed sod-podzolic soils

Abstract: The article presents the results of a field experiment on growing spring barley on a locally contaminated site of the Agroecological Station of the Russian State Agrarian University - Moscow Agricultural Academy named after K.A. Timiryazev with disturbed sod-podzolic soils. The studies included an assessment of zinc content in different parts of the crop at three phases, including tillering, tube emergence and heading. The results indicate the maximum accumulation of zinc in the roots (more than 300 mg / kg dry weight), and at all growth phases. For the above-ground part of plants, the distribution does not differ on average (in leaves - 96.9 mg / kg; in stems - 94.6 mg / kg and in the ear - 100.5 mg / kg). The studies identified the main factors influencing the accumulation of this heavy metal in plants. Thus, one of the key parameters that reduces the zinc supply to plants is the content of mobile phosphorus, especially in the early growth phases (r = -0.841 for the zinc content in stems in the tube phase). Other macroelements are also closely correlated with the zinc supply to leaves, especially in the tillering phase, which makes the issues of mineral nutrition regulation more relevant.
