Type: article
Abstract: Angola, located in the southern region of Western Africa, is a founding member of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), joining when it was established in Lusaka, Zambia, in 1980. Angola is the second-largest country in sub-Saharan Africa, next to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). As the current (2023/2024) chair of the rotating presidency (serving as the chair for the third time since the establishment of SADC), Angola will play a crucial role in advancing the integration process of SADC. This article discusses the domestic and international issues faced by Angola before and after the establishment of SADC, its participation in the integration process, and its potential future role.
