Tailored osmotic delivery of nifedipine: a formulation and evaluation approach

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Nifedipine is used as an antianginal (especially in Prinzmetal's angina) and antihypertensive. The mechanism by which nifedipine reduces arterial blood pressure involves peripheral arterial vasodilatation and consequently a reduction in peripheral vascular resistance. The primary objective of controlled drug delivery system is to ensure safety and to improve the patient compliance as well as efficacy of the drugs and this can be achieved by less frequent dosing and better control of drug plasma level.
