Evaluation Of Air Polishing Effect on Implant Surface at Three Different Defect Angulations

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Aim: The aim of this in vitro study is to evaluation of air polishing effects on implant surfaces at three different defect angulations Material and methods: The present study is performed using three titanium SLA-activated implants.Around One implant, 30°angulation bone defects were created in the model, the second implant had a 60°angulated bone defect, and 90° angulated bone defects were made for the third implant. All three implants were surface-treated with erythritol powder air-polishing, and the defect wall was taken as reference angulation.Alterations in the surface morphology were assessed using scanning electron micrographs (SEM) and alterations in the surface composition were assesses using EDX.Results: After treatment with air-polishing, SEM images showed no significant alterations on machined implant surfaces.Air polishing resulted in slight smoothing of the machined rings, indicating minimal surface modification in implant 3. Elevation in the levels of titanium and aluminium after air polishing was estimated using EDX analysis Conclusion: Every SEM image confirms the implant system's distinct surface topography.Cleaning with air-polishing devices did not result in considerable surface deterioration.
