Abstract: Society demands more and more from Universities, expectations becoming each day more diversified. The purpose of this article is to reflect on such issue, on the basis of a specific case study. More precisely, the results of a research project are presented and discussed, emphasizing the view external actors, that is, regional institutions, have with regard to the efforts of the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro to engage with the local community.
