De desaparecidos a Combatientes. Voces de niños y jóvenes en la guerra (1980 – 2010). El caso de la provincia de Lengupá Boyacá-Colombia
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This article examines the recruitment of children into the Colombian armed conflict, particularly in the Lengupá Province of Boyacá. This involvement stemmed from the state's absence and weakness, and in some cases, the complicity of officials. Armed groups such as the FARC-EP and paramilitaries exploited these circumstances to recruit children and youths. Using a social history perspective and the testimonies of victims, stored at the National Centre for Historical Memory, CINEP, and local newspapers, the study explores how and where children were recruited, as well as their experiences, from training to the transformation of their everyday lives from schooling and play to participation in the conflict.
