Abstract: This paper presents information on a comparison of the degradation of a flexible palm oil-based polyurethane foam with a commercial flexible polyurethane foam (control) in soil over a period of 30 days. The sample used in this study was a composite polyurethane foam containing about 50-60% palm oil polyol and has characteristics similar to conventional polyurethane foam. The novelty of this study is to investigate the degradation rate of a composite flexible polyurethane foam with a palm oil polyol content of 50-60%. As a result of the study, an environmentally friendly formulation of composite polyurethane foam was developed based on the following parameters (weight loss, FTIR, XRD, TGA, and SEM).
