Challenges And Solutions for Adapting Health Professional Education to The Requirements of An Aging Population
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The worldwide aging trend has grown dramatically while creating healthcare system difficulties that require health professional education to evolve. Many medical and nursing curricula failed to provide thorough geriatrics training before the rise in geriatric care demand, resulting in healthcare delivery problems. The three primary obstacles to effective geriatric education consist of inadequate geriatric content integration into educational programs and insufficient team collaborations between specialists and restricted opportunities to work directly with elderly patients. This review examines proven methods and policy suggestions to remediate the detected deficiencies. It indicates that educational approaches based on competencies along with faculty development training modern technology integration and interdisciplinary training strategies boost geriatric education effectiveness. The implementation of organized geriatric training systems led countries to achieve a better-prepared workforce and improved patient results. Enhancing geriatric education matters for improved healthcare delivery to aging populations because of necessary curriculum changes supported by public-private collaboration and political directives. Future work must concentrate on persistent professional growth along with research funding for geriatric education.
