Abstract: • The natural ventilation simulation gives generalized results of IAQ provision • Natural ventilation can be effectively simulated using Tkachuk's approach • Integral flow can be used for simplification of natural ventilation simulation • “Green structures” is the biotechnical approach to sustainability incl. IAQ • Natural ventilation can't stably provide high IAQ even with “green structures” Nowadays, most modern buildings have mechanical ventilation with heat recovery. But old buildings are equipped with natural ones. Some modern houses are equipped with automatic window control to save energy. Therefore, natural ventilation is topical. To clean and sanitize the air, “green structures” are effectively used. The roles of indoor and outdoor ones in sustainable development are specified. The plants absorb and produce carbon dioxide dependent on time, which causes the corresponding requirements for ventilation. The provision of adequate indoor air quality by natural ventilation can be tested by simulation. It can be performed effectively and accurately without computational fluid dynamics using the methods for aeration of enterprises after adaptation of assumptions to other-type buildings. In this study, we improve the method for calculations of aeration by A. Tkachuk using the integral flow concept. It allows uniformity of calculations of a single flow and backflow in holes. The simulation results of a single-room flat with a green wall confirm that natural ventilation sometimes can't keep enough indoor air quality. Therefore, mechanical ventilation or a combination of both ventilation types is necessary.
