Urbanonimia jako narzędzie budowania tożsamości narodowej Ukraińców i Białorusinów w warunkach kryzysu politycznego

Abstract: The aim of this article is to analyse the changes in the newest urbanonyms of Ukraine and Belarus for a better understanding of urban nomenclature meaning and the symbolism of space in the process of creating the modern national identity of Ukrainians and Belarusians. Urbanonyms reflect elements associated with the formation of nations, connected with the creation of cultural identity and the historical consciousness of the group, the idea of community and tradition (in accordance with classic determinants of nations such as community of tradition, history, beliefs, ideas etc.). On the basis of the analysis conducted it is possible to talk about a consistent process of national identity formation, of which urbanonyms constitute a strong tool.
