White light tuning using lophine as a wavelength-converter material

Abstract: The generation of white light with LED technology uses short wavelengths as excitation in a wavelength-converter material, which can be phosphors, semiconductors, and dyes. The material absorbs part of the light from the excitation source and emits light at longer wavelengths. This article reports the generating of white light using lophine as a wavelength-converter material. Combining the lophine fluorescence with the wavelength excitation produced a white light. The characterization involves temperature change from 0°C to 50°C of the lophine, demonstrating that the fluorescence changes as a function of temperature. Furthermore, the change in the fluorescence spectrum as a function of temperature makes it possible to tune broad-spectrum white light spectral hues, which is essential in many applications. Then, we demonstrate that the excitation wavelength or temperature can be tuning the white light. Finally, the CIE 1931 chromaticity coordinates and the color purity of the white light were determined.
