Wang, “ Antitumor Effects of a Novel Sulfur-Containing Hydroxamate Histone Deacetylase Inhibitor H40,” International Journal of Cancer 124, no. 5 (2009): 1235–1244, https://doi.org/10.1002/ijc.24074. This Expression of Concern is for the above article, published online on 22 October 2008 in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), and has been issued by agreement between the journal Editor-in-Chief, Christoph Plass; the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC); and Wiley Periodicals LLC. The Expression of Concern has been agreed due to concerns raised by third parties. Specifically, the article reports experiments in the unknown/unverifiable cell line BGC-803. Furthermore, the following cell lines used in the study have been reported as problematic: KB [[1]-[4]], BEL-7402 [[5]], and Hep-G2 [[6]]. A clarification addressing these concerns could not be obtained from the authors. As the detected issues do not undermine the overall conclusions of the article, the journal has decided to issue an Expression of Concern to inform and alert the readers.
