Type: article
Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of trends in the development of V. V. Babaitseva’s ideas on the study of functional homonyms. The article examines V. V. Babaitseva’s contribution to the study of functional homonyms, calculates the number of homocomplexes studied to date and their systematization, and analyzes the dynamics of interest in the topic of transitional linguistic phenomena in the scientific community. The aim of the work is to present the current state of the study of homocomplexes in Russian studies. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the paper presents and systematizes key trends in the study of homocomplexes for the first time, and provides a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the homocomplexes studied to date. The results showed a significant increase in the number of studies of functional homonyms since the publication of V. V. Babaitseva’s theoretical works. The assessment of the frequency of studying certain homocomplexes made it possible to identify among them high-frequency and low-frequency ones. According to the results of the study, it was found that 106 homocomplexes have been developed and described to date. High-frequency in the study were homocomplexes united around pronominal forms. It is determined that a new vector of development of research in the field of homocomplexes is being laid in the following directions: 1) studying the specifics of the representation of various semantic categories by homocomplexes; 2) developing the principles of lexicographic description of homocomplexes; 3) studying the stylistic and rhetorical functions of homocomplexes; 4) analyzing homocomplexes as means of genre and text formation.
