Abstract: The search for quality in health services is no longer an uncommon practice but has become a technical and social necessity. In this context, the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation has been qualifying its Reference Services. Given this, the objective of this study was to describe the quality certification process of the National Reference Service for Filariasis at the Aggeu Magalhães Institute, a unit of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, in Pernambuco, by the National Accreditation Organization - level 1. For this, a descriptive study was carried out based on documentary analysis, considering the data collected from the report issued after audits conducted by two external evaluators accredited by National Accreditation Organization. A total of 296 standards required for National Accreditation Organization level 1 accreditation were evaluated, among which 95.1% were compliant, 0.7% exceeded the expected expectations, 3.8% were partially compliant, and 0.4% did not meet compliance standards. This certification process of the National Accreditation Organization certification, level 1, represented an advancement with significant paradigm shifts, as it increased the standardization of activities, systematized the preparation and storage of official documents, and strengthened the quality system, always focusing on patient safety.
