Case Study Based on Strategic Analysis: Preparation for Industry 4.0 and Process Improvement in a Thermoplastic Company
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Objective: This study analyzes how preparation for Industry 4.0 and process improvements affect a thermoplastic company in the Industrial Hub of Manaus. It focuses on the relationship between "Manufacturing and Operations" and "Supply Chain." The goal is to evaluate their impact on operational efficiency. Theoretical Framework: The theoretical framework highlights the importance of organizational maturity, logistics, automation, and IoT for thermoplastic industries in Industry 4.0, as well as the use of strategies such as QRM and PCP to optimize inventory and reduce costs. Method: The study employed a mixed and descriptive approach, along with triangulation for analysis. Data were collected from the PIMM 4.0 system and analyzed using JASP software. Results and Discussion: The analysis results indicate that the "Industry 4.0" variable may have a more significant impact on operational efficiency compared to other variables. However, when compared to “use of data in manufacturing,” “real-time inventory,” and “lead time,” the results were insufficient to clearly determine operational efficiency. Research Implications: The study showed that preparation for Industry 4.0 and operational variables, on their own, do not significantly impact the efficiency of thermoplastic industries. It emphasizes the need for integrated strategies to overcome the challenges of technological adoption. Originality/Value: The study examines Industry 4.0 readiness in the thermoplastic sector using a mixed methodology and Multiple Linear Regression with Stepwise. It highlights the importance of contextual factors and integrated approaches in strategic planning.
