Abstract: This contribution focuses on legal aid, which is generally accepted as a part of right to fair trial. It reflects historical roots of the legal aid ideas in the human past. The second part of the article inquires into the question whether legal aid should be provided by the Bar or by the state. Following considerations describe and evaluate both solutions in general.
