Evolution of Quality Control Systems: From Taylor to Modern Standards

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The article is dedicated to the evolution of quality control systems, starting from Frederick Taylor’s inspection methods to modern integrated approaches based on digital technologies. Particular attention is given to the introduction of statistical quality control methods (Shewhart), the concept of Total Quality Management (Feigenbaum), and international ISO 9000 standards. The role of digitalization is analyzed, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and big data for predicting deviations and preventing defects in production processes. The article examines the key challenges of modern quality management systems, such as insufficient adaptation to dynamic market conditions, difficulties in integrating automated systems, and the need for workforce training. The authors emphasize the importance of a comprehensive approach that combines scientific research, the implementation of advanced technologies, and employee skill development. The study demonstrates that using digital technologies significantly reduces defect levels and increases production efficiency while requiring substantial investments. The conclusions of the article provide recommendations for further improvement of quality control systems, considering modern challenges and market trends.
