Left Common Iliac Vein Compression is Present in the Majority of Young Patients, Questioning the Need for Routine Treatment With Stents
Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: DVT, with venous stenting as the standard management for relieving this compression. Left common iliac vein (LCIV) compression in an asymptomatic population averaging 35.3% was previously documented by Kibbe et al. However, this study included only adults with an average age of 40 years. We studied the anatomy of the iliac vein confluence in patients under 21 with no symptoms attributable to venous disease. Our goal is to delineate the prevalence of LCIV narrowing in this patient population to assist in determining the appropriate role for stenting.
