Autotransplant as Salvage for Patients With Posterior Nutcracker and Failed Left Renal Vein Transposition
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Left renal vein (LRV) compression syndrome or Nutcracker syndrome (NCS) is most commonly the result of entrapment between the superior mesenteric artery and aorta, where it is coined anterior nutcracker. A less common variant is compression of the LRV behind the aorta or as a vascular ring, termed retro-aortic or circum-aortic nutcracker. Despite surgical decompression of the LRV via transposition, patients with posterior LRV compression can develope recurrence of their compression and pain requiring reoperation.
