Survival Strategies of the Contractor in the Construction Market of Ukraine During the Crisis

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: In 2022, the Ukrainian construction market faced deep crisis phenomena that significantly changed the business environment for contractors. Rising prices for construction materials, currency exchange rate instability, reduced availability of financing, and decreased demand for construction services create serious pressure on the financial stability of companies. In such conditions, contractors are forced to seek ways to optimize costs and increase their competitiveness for survival and successful operations.Purchasing and using used formwork systems can be one of the possible responses to these challenges. This approach allows contractors to reduce costs associated with formwork systems, which is especially important under limited budgets.Using used formwork systems also contributes to a sustainable reduction in the ecological footprint, which is becoming an important aspect given the growing attention to environmental issues in the construction industry. The reputation of construction companies that reuse resources and reduce environmental impact can improve their market image and attract clients interested in environmentally friendly solutions. It should also be noted that this approach requires careful risk assessment related to the condition of used materials, their thorough inspection, and restorative repairs, which entail additional financial costs. The relevance of this topic lies in the effective strategy of cost reduction and competitiveness enhancement for contractors in the construction market under economic crisis conditions. The study of purchasing and using used formwork systems as one of the possible options for achieving these goals.
