Abstract: Widowhood is a upsetting life experience. It is just not the loss of life partners ,widows experience change in every sphere of their lives. For elderly widows challenges multiply because of their deteriorating health conditions. New life situation may be disempowering for them. The objectives of the current study are to understand the psychological, social and economic issues that elderly widows living in Jadavpur, Kolkata confront. Findings revealed that respondents faced multiple problems resulting in widows living unhappy lives. The authors suggests ways to address the challenges faced by the widows.
