Abstract: Introduction: Waist-hip ratios (WHR) and waist-height ratios (WHR) are anthropometric measurements that help evaluate the distribution of abdominal fat and the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Objective: Determine the usefulness of the waist-hip and waist-height indices in the evaluation of abdominal fat distribution in university students. Methodology: An observational study was carried out with 28 students over 18 years of age, using standardized methods to measure waist, hip and height circumference; The data were collected after informed consent. Statistical analyzes were performed in the SPSS statistical program version 22. Results: The Student's T test showed that there is no significant difference in the ICC means between genders (p = 0.082). However, a significant difference was found in the ICT means between genders (p = 0.047), with women having higher levels of abdominal fat. Conclusion: The study contributes to the field by underscoring the importance of a comprehensive assessment of cardiovascular health that includes both CHF and TBI, and highlights the need to consider gender differences in these assessments.
