The Widespread Corruption in Indonesia: Legal Challenges and Solutions for Effective Eradication
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Corruption remains a pervasive issue in Indonesia, significantly undermining governance, economic development, and social trust. This article explores the multifaceted nature of corruption in Indonesia, focusing on the legal challenges that impede effective eradication efforts. Utilizing a qualitative methodology, this study employs library research to analyze existing literature, legal frameworks, and case studies related to corruption in the country. The findings reveal that despite the establishment of anti-corruption laws and institutions, such as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), systemic issues, including bureaucratic inefficiencies, lack of political will, and insufficient public awareness, continue to hinder progress. Furthermore, the study identifies the role of cultural factors and societal norms that may perpetuate corrupt practices. To address these challenges, the article proposes a multi-pronged approach that includes strengthening legal frameworks, enhancing the capacity of anti-corruption agencies, fostering public participation, and promoting a culture of integrity. By implementing these solutions, Indonesia can move toward a more transparent and accountable governance system. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse on corruption eradication in Indonesia and offers practical recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders committed to fostering a corruption-free environment.
