Review: Indigenous Archival Activism: Mohican Interventions in Public History and Memory, by Rose Miron

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: language before a meeting.Writing for an internal audience, Owens foregrounds pertinent definitions and otherwise relies on readers' knowledge of professional practices within cultural institutions.Likewise, Part 2 relies on readers' familiarity with language about de/anti-colonialism, anti-capitalism, patriarchy, and/or Afrofuturism.Nevertheless, After Disruption provides a strong case of tech sector disruption, a synopsis of future-oriented literature, a reading list, and reflection prompts. After Disruption rests on the foundation that memory and history work are inherently about imagining a future.Owens designed After Disruption to be implemented by practitioners in decision-making roles, and fellow champions of a morejust, slower-paced, and community-oriented cultural sector will find value in its insights.
