Design and Fabrication of Mechanized Pressing Machine For Pandan Leaves
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: The contemporary market for crafts and décor is in continual flux, particularly within the artisanal, handcrafted goods domain. Skilled artisans within our local community meticulously fashion most of these products. Given its environmentally conscious and sustainable nature, this industry holds considerable potential for expansion and heightened visibility. In the Philippines, pandan leaves are a prevalent material within this sector. However, the processing of pandan leaves is often arduous and time intensive. The primary objective of this study is to enhance the thickness reduction of the produced pandan leaves. In response, the researchers have developed a prototype for a mechanized pandan leaf-pressing machine utilizing roller design. The thickness measurements before and after the process, along with the pressing time for the machine and iluhan were recorded. The time efficiency and relative draft were calculated. Following rigorous statistical analysis using z test, the gathered data demonstrate a significant difference in the relative draft and leaf thickness obtained from the machine compared to the traditional method.
