Abstract: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is characterized by an unpredictable and unfavorable course. The ethnicity of the patient has a significant impact on the course and outcome of the disease. SLE is more severe in African Americans and Asians than in white Europeans. This review examines epidemiological data, characteristics of the course and clinical manifestations of SLE in Asians.
