Abstract: The 61st annual meeting of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons took place from January 23 to January 26 2025 in Los Angeles, CA.For weeks leading up to the event, the Los Angeles region was plagued by devastating wildfires that ravaged the landscape, displaced many Los Angeles natives, and threatened the status of the national meeting.The STS leadership and planning committee vigilantly monitored the situation, updating its members and prospective attendees daily on the meeting status, and ensuring the safety of all their guests.The message from STS president Dr. Jennifer Romano was one of unity, encouraging our support for the Los Angeles community with our attendance.For our readers of Artificial Organs, we provide highlights from the STS annual meeting with a focus on advancements in technologies in the field of mechanical circulatory support (MCS), heart failure, and thoracic transplantation.
