Abstract: The article discusses the development process of the VAZ-2101 car in 1966-1970. The main stages of designing the design of a new machine are characterized, from the selection of a prototype to the start of mass production of the final design. Using specific material, the scale and degree of modification of the model is determined, in comparison with the original design of the Italian prototype car.
