Abstract: Sacred Heart University (SHU), in Connecticut, Farrington College of Education & Human Development, together with the Stamford (Connecticut) Public Schools (SPS), has launched the Para Pioneer program to address the critical shortage of special education professionals in Connecticut and increase diversity in teaching. A vital part of the program is identifying and recruiting local talent and removing barriers to success, which will lead to greater representation of local communities in public school classrooms.
