Bumba meu boi in the school curriculum: an approach to ethnic-racial issues with popular culture
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This paper analyzes three lesson plans found in the Nova Escola Magazine, which suggest the inclusion of the Bumba Meu Boi theme in the school curriculum. In undertaking the analyses, we seek to show how the inclusion of this element of popular culture can be a tool to address ethnic-racial issues and promote a post-colonial and anti-racist perspective in the curriculum. To this end, contributions from post-critical curriculum theories were mobilized.
