Abstract: This special issue features selected papers by presenters of the URBIO 2022 conference “Integrating Biodiversity in Urban Planning and Design Processes” held on the 28th- 30th November 2022. The conference was hosted by the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ in Leipzig, Germany, in close cooperation with the Humboldt University of Berlin, the University of Western Australia, and the University of Missouri (USA). The conference brought together and facilitated discussions among scientists and academics, landscape architecture and planning practitioners, and community groups, in order to co-produce the knowledge that people need for biodiversity conservation, planning and designing multifunctional biodiversity-friendly solutions in urban areas. In total, 122 participants from 24 countries attended the conference.
