Photoluminescence Properties of Novel Ca3Y2B4O12:Eu3+ and Dy3+ Phosphors for Solid‐State Lighting Prepared by Combustion Method

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: ABSTRACT In this study, novel Ca3Y2B4O12:Eu3+ and Dy3+ phosphors were synthesized utilizing a simple and efficient combustion process. The Ca3Y2B4O12 host orthorhombic phase with high crystallinity formation is confirmed by structural x‐ray diffraction analysis. The Ca3Y2B4O12:Eu3+ phosphors PL study indicated different emission peaks at 595 and 618 nm under 397 nm excitation, whereas Ca3Y2B4O12:Dy3+ phosphors emission peaks displayed blue (485 nm) and yellow (579 nm) under 353 nm excitation. The ideal doping concentration of 0.5 mol% for Eu3+ and Dy3+ ions resulted in maximum emission intensity due to reduced concentration quenching effects. The chromaticity coordinates show that the emissions are in the visible spectrum, with high‐purity colors suitable for solid state lighting. The results indicate that novel Ca3Y2B4O12:Eu3+ and Dy3+ is promising materials for n‐UV emitting phosphors for solid‐state lighting applications.
