Abstract: In a postmodern world which mercilessly seeks to colonize our personal and socialimaginaries, Roman Catholic dogma’s legitimate option for verbal terseness must allyitself with a Christ-fueled, continuously dynamic imagination, for the sake of our fides Eschatology and Imagination31quae, of our fides qua, and of theology itself. Scripture has varying strategies—soberor splashy—in its use of the imagination to relate our eschatological horizon; so doesCatholic literature. In order to regain a much-needed eschatological sense of hope andfullness, our Christian theological discourse should respectfully discern its use of images and the imagination. Such a balance is key for our faith’s actual credibility inpostmodernity. It also directly effects how we lead our daily lives
