Analysis of methodological approaches to justification of crop irrigation regimes

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The purpose of the study is to classify methodological approaches to justifying crop irrigation regimes based on improving the reliability and accuracy of information support and improving methods for predicting the water consumption of crops. Many researchers agree that optimizing water management in reclamation is critical to crop production because effective water management can significantly improve irrigation efficiency and yield. It is noted that irrigated land accounts for no more than 24% of all arable land, but it accounts for about 40% of world food production. Methods are considered: hydrometeorological; heat balance; water and heat balance; physiological; «coupling equation». Advantages and disadvantages of each method are given.
