Technical indicators of ammonia heavy duty engines

Abstract: This article presents a literature review of the use of ammonia in combination with diesel fuel to power heavy duty engines. The main advantages and disadvantages in using ammonia as a fuel are shown. The chemical and physical properties of ammonia as a fuel compared to hydrogen are listed. Examples of the use of this type of engine by road, rail and marine transport companies were found. The effect of the energy content of ammonia in dual fuel on engine performance and emissions was determined.
