Methodology to improve Oral Comprehension in English through Phonological Elements

Abstract: This work aims at elaborating a methodology through which phonological elements of the English language are used to develop oral comprehension. To achieve the objective, the paper analyzes the phonological aspects that directly influence in this type of comprehension, as well as the fundamentals of oral comprehension. The work also explores, by means of a diagnostic study, the main difficulties students have while using the phonological elements in English during the process of oral interaction in the classroom. The research covers how teachers of such grade treat these elements while developing the communicative competence of their students and how they have been trained to favor oral communication among their pupils on the bases of the phonological elements of English. The results derived of the application of the methodology are explained as well.
