Abstract: The article substantiates the relevance of the problem of formation of creative abilities of adolescents as an effective way of competitiveness of a personality. On the basis of the analysis of scientific literature, the key concepts of the study ‘creativity’ and ‘creative abilities of a personality’ are defined. It is proved that adolescence is sensitive for the development of their creative potential. The diagnostics of the formation of adolescents' creative abilities by selected methods is carried out. The pedagogical conditions that will contribute to the development of this personality trait are determined: the use of technology of psychological and pedagogical support; providing resource opportunities for the development of creativity; motivation of creative thinking; creation of situations that arouse interest; use of group forms of work that contribute to the stimulation of thought, expression of original ideas. The technology of group creative activity is developed and presented, which ensures self-realisation, self-affirmation of the individual on the basis of the manifestation of talents, preferences, inclinations. Group creative activity involves an initial stage where the choice of topic is discussed, ideas are generated, thoughts on the programme of action are expressed, roles are assigned to participants according to their talents, abilities, inclinations, preferences, and the next stages are preparation for the implementation of the planned tasks, and presentation of the plan. The final stage is feedback, where the teenager's creative activity is self-analysed. The result of the formation of creative abilities is the ability to build one's own understanding of the problem, forecasting and solving it, personal success in the context of solving a specific task, taking into account the creative potential of the individual.
