Type: article
Abstract: Today, the planet's general pollution makes it necessary to consider insalubrity in its relation to global environmental degradation. In Senegal, unchecked urbanization combined with a lack of urban waste management services is creating persistent insalubrity in our cities. The city of Thiès is no exception to this phenomenon of insalubrity, nor to its harmful impact on the living environment and on the well-being and health of the population. The results of our research revealed that the main causes of insalubrity in Thiès include rapid, uncontrolled urbanization, uncontrolled dumping and dysfunctional waste collection systems. The main consequences of insalubrity are the deterioration of the living environment, the death of stray animals and the proliferation of diseases such as malaria. To deal with the harmful consequences of insalubrity inThiès, a solution based on educating people in the ethics of respect through traditional storytelling.KEYWORDS:insalubrity, education, respect, environment, storytelling.
