L’utopie à l’œuvre dans le roman contemporain subsaharien

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Experiencingsomething else, reinventing the culture of life, rethinking living together, rediscovering the taste for hope, opening up horizons, such seems to be the urgency in the Africa today. This article analyzes the deployment of African utopias in contemporary sub-Saharan novels. How do contemporary sub-Saharan African writers represent utopia? How does the content of their works convey a utopian vision? And to what extent can the utopias at work in contemporary African literature have a direct and significant impact on the evolution of African societies? Contemporary sub-Saharan African writers often use utopian representations to define not a program but rather a speculation on the present.
